Needless to say it's exactly how I envisioned it and I couldn't be more excited that my 5 year photography plan came to fruition. Enjoy the pictures!
I have found that if you break out of the box a little and crop your images, it tells a completely different story. Take a look at these crops I've done in the past. I love reading peoples souls through their eyes.
My first studio model is Miss Savana and I chose her to photograph due to her natural beauty, freckles and tom boy look. This is my ideal girl and she embodied all that I was looking for...check her out!

Since I started photography as a business I wrote down my list of goals for the next 5 years and on that list was having my own studio. I am happy to announce that West Elm Photography will now have my own personal studio just for me!!! I am beyond thrilled and cannot wait to get my Ikea shopping down...must wait for after Christmas sales though.
Stay tuned...lots of pictures coming! Tom and I had the pleasure of meeting Norman Horn and let me tell you, this is not just any man, this is an incredible man with determination, heart, and a welcoming smile. Norman is walking cross country by FOOT to raise awareness for childhood cancer and his charity is called 'Coast 2 Coast FTK' FTK means For The Kids.
I had heard about Norman through a friend who asked If we could house Norman for one night as he walks through Harrisonville and without a chance to blink I said YES, ABSOLUTELY! I was beyond thrilled to help out and even to meet such an individual as Norman. I rushed to the store, got steaks, flowers, trail mix(I'm such a amateur) and ran home to get the room ready for Norman, big man on campus! I also reached out to a friend of mine who has 3 beautiful daughters with the youngest just very recently going through her own cancer journey and was now on the up and up, I wanted Norman to meet Sophie, the town hero! So the day comes and I have my mom, dad, twin boys, Sophie and her two sisters all waiting to meet Norman and as sure as I saw him walking down the street I got so excited! He arrived, we hugged from afar, poor guy wanted a shower really bad and I couldn't blame him. After he showered then the real hug came. The girls had brought homemade cookies that I embarrassingly shoved in my face in front of a man that weighs less than I do but they were so dang good and also brought for Norman their charity bracelet for him to have. We had steak, laughed and had great conversation with a man we may never meet again (tears forming now) Here are some pictures of our time with Norman and to this day as I gripe about doing the dishes or doing laundry there is an incredible man still on foot and finishing his journey all for pediatric cancer awareness. I'm in awe of who he is and what he stands for, he makes me want to do better. Enjoy my pictures. We miss your Norman and will always remember our short time with you. Love, Robin, Tom, Dean and Tred Well the time has come for my little men to start school and I couldn't be more excited for them!
I have had a great almost 4 years with them by my side almost every day and so far the boys have learned to clean, watch Bravo, gripe at daddy, watch mommy edit pictures and learned how to use the remote control. Needless to say, my little men are ready to learn something more and I'm so thrilled to be sending them to such a great school , a school they will be at until they graduate their senior year. I've never been much of a teacher and this is why I'm excited for them, they will finally learn firsthand what the tv has been teaching them for years. ha (i'm not that bad, am I?) I feel like their first week at school they will come home wanting to read to me, ok, I won't go that far but I know they are just little sponges ready to learn. In all seriousness, while I may not be the best teacher of eda -ma-cational stuff, they have been taught through me manners, how to hug, how to love, how to be silly, how to go peepee in the potty, how to put puzzles together, how to unload the dishwasher AND how to shop at Target while avoiding the toy area. Here are some pictures of our meet the teacher day and see our classroom day. The REAL first day of school is tomorrow! I love them and will miss them but it will make our time after school that much more enjoyable. I love you DeanDean and TredTred I have been so busy lately photographing some very good looking High School Seniors! I am very fortunate to have such a wonderful job and then to top it off, I get to work with amazingly beautiful people! Best thing about this is....I have 4 more to go by the end of the month! Enjoy Butler High School | Blue Valley West | Harrisonville High School
I'm the type of person that has always lived a life of MY control. If I wanted no noise, I got no noise, If I wanted to leave and go eat, I left and got something to eat, if I wanted to sit in a bath tub for an hour reading, I did that! Being an only child, I pretty much had my way ALL the time. Now that I have twin boys I'm realizing I don't have much control over anything and in return can make me a total wreck of a person. I won't lie, watching my boys all day long is very tiring along with trying to keep the dang house in order. I clean my toosh off every day, work hard on our two businesses, clean up after my husband and very seldom do I really get to chill and enjoy the day. Every day my little men want to play, play, play with mommy and I usually feel very bad because I just don't take the time to sit down and play with them and if I do it's only for 10 minute spurts at a time. Now, I'm not a clean freak and have to have everything squeaky clean but it does take a lot to manage the Addleman empire and the small spurts of playing with my kids really sets me back. It's hard for me to sit still, it's just how I'm wired. Very seldom do I do things that I know are going to be messy...because I know I will be the one to clean it up. HOWEVER... The past few days have been really hard on me, my husband has been out of town and I've found myself slowing losing control of everything, even my emotions. Well, yesterday I woke up and thought, to hell with it, let's get messy and this time I don't mind cleaning up, in fact let the mess sit there for days on end...hubby can clean it when he returns, he owes me. ha So I did it... I broke out the paint and let the boys go hog wild with it. They painted cute canvas pictures as well as painted themselves, the floor, the table, you name it. Mind you this is all waterproof, I didn't completely lose my mind now. While they painted everything, I sipped my tea and just watched them while doing my MY favorite pleasure, taking pictures. After the paint, we played in the sprinklers and THEN we ate messy red popsicles on the front porch, wow that's a lot of time away from the dishes, the laundry, the websites, the everything. I will tell you though, that 3 hours we got crazy messy were the best 3 hours I had spent in a long time. Days like this will be on the agenda a lot more. My babies will be in pre-school in August and I won't have this time again so I'm choosing to set aside my old ways of handling the household (fingers crossed) and will really make an effort because what I saw on the faces of my children was so worth it. Enjoy the pictures from our messy day, I need to do this more often. Thank you for reading. ~Robin
